The Toronto Maple Leafs are in the midst of an incredible season, a feat they’ve accomplished only once since 1948.
It’s a feat that has been achieved by the only other team to do it since the franchise was founded.
For a while, it seemed like the NHL would be averse to celebrating a championship.
That’s why the NHL announced last week that it will be doing something that wasn’t supposed to happen.
The league announced that the 2017 NHL All-Star Game would take place in Toronto.

Since 1948, the Maple Leafs have been the only NHL team to win the Stanley Cup.
The Leafs won it in 1948-49.
This year, the Leafs have become the first franchise to win two Stanley Cups.
And they’re the first team to reach that feat since the New York Islanders won three in a row in 1991-92.
The Maple Leafs also became the first club to win four Stanley Cups in a single season.
So why the sudden change of heart?
The answer to that question is a bit complicated.
