Kate McKillop will star in a new film adaptation of the original Ghostbusters movie, the studio announced today.
The film is being developed by The Weinstein Company, the company said in a statement.
McKillap, who will play a character called “Ghostbusters” in the film, is currently filming a new TV series for Netflix.
The movie will not be directed by Ron Howard.
“I’m so excited to finally get the Ghostbusters film made, and I can’t wait to get to work with Ron and his team, who are doing some of the most exciting work I’ve ever done,” McKillops said in the statement.
“It will be a joy to work on, and the team at The Weinstein Co. has been very supportive.
It’s been an honor to share the screen with a wonderful cast and crew.”
“Ghostbuster” was first released in 1975 and is considered one of the first modern-day science fiction films.
The Ghostbusters were a fictional organization of scientists and scientists in New York City who investigated paranormal phenomena.
They were first introduced in 1974, and their original members, including Harold Ramis, Sigourney Weaver, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, and Dan Aykroyd, were among the first cast members to return.
